Description
Supersedes Fox Part Number 983-06-011
FOX internal bypass coil-over shocks combine the ability to adjust ride height through spring rate and preload while also delivering position-sensitive damping control in independently controlled stages. The internal bypass coil-over is ideal for vehicles that can only fit one shock per wheel, but require increased suspension damping control.
Factory Race Series 981-30-603-3 Dimensions:
Setup For Dual Spring Rate
3.0" Diameter
14.0" Travel
37.500" Extended
23.400" Collapsed
2-1/2" x 14" DSC Dual Speed Compression Reservoir
18" Reservoir Hose
7/8" Shaft Diameter
1-1/2" Mounting Width Between Tabs
Uses 1/2" Shock Bolts
32" Maximum combined total spring length
Typically customers purchase an 12" top spring and a 20" bottom spring. You could run a shorter bottom spring, but anything less than 20", using the flat spring perch, would have the bottom spring flopping on the spring guide because the spring divider will hit the spring guide at full extension.

End Loop and Perch Info
The shock comes with a flat bottom spring perch part number 234-00-166 but you can also purchase the cone shaped spring perch number 234-00-307 to help with clearance issues.
If you purchase the cone shaped spring perch number 234-00-307 you can still use the 12" upper 20" lower with 1" of preload or drop the top spring to a 10" length.
The shock comes with the 2" (1.950") top edge to center short bottom end loop part number 213-01-237-A. You can also purchase any of the longer end loops listed below.
IMPORTANT: This internal bypass shock has a 7/8" shaft, uses the smaller COM10 5/8" uniballs, 1/2" bolts, uses a plastic spring divider, and is an inch shorter than the 981-30-102 non internal bypass shock. The 981-30-102 non internal bypass has a 1" shaft, uses AIN12T 3/4" uniballs, 5/8" bolts, a billet aluminum 3 piece spring divider and is 1" longer than the above IBP shock. If you purchase the cone shaped spring perch number 234-00-307 you can still use the 12" upper 20" lower with 1" of preload or drop the top spring to a 10" length.
If you're upgrading from a non IBP shock to this IBP shock, you could purchase longer end loops (213-01-235-A), and make your own tube type shock bolt spacers, instead of the 5/8" to 1/2" stepped reducer spacers, to retain a 5/8" bolt.
